Myeong Hyeon-suk, the wife of Robert Holley, revealed the process by which her household reached ruin due to her husband's past gambling and the background of her decision to divorce.

Depletion of Assets and Economic Crisis Due to Husband's Gambling

According to the content of the video on the YouTube channel 'Dongchimi', Myeong Hyeon-suk recalled the situation where her husband spent a large amount of money gambling in Las Vegas in the past. She stated that at the time, her husband was unable to manage income systematically and did not feel guilt about losing money through gambling. Myeong Hyeon-suk explained that as this situation continued for 5 to 6 years, their once wealthy assets gradually diminished.

The economic crisis led to a situation where seizures were placed on the house. Myeong Hyeon-suk said she experienced great mental suffering as she faced the situation where red stickers (seizure notices) were attached to the house they lived in due to her husband's problems. She revealed that while she was contemplating her situation after moving down to Jeju Island with her children, she received a request for divorce from her husband. Myeong Hyeon-suk added that she chose a mutual divorce considering the situation where all assets could lead to her husband's debt.

"I received a burden, not a house" The reality faced after divorce

During the divorce process, Myeong Hyeon-suk mentioned that she took over the house from her husband, but it did not become a practical asset. Myeong Hyeon-suk said that because excessive loans were set on the house, it was no different from receiving a 'burden' where she had to bear monthly loan interest amounting to 2 million won, rather than receiving a house. She shared her feelings at the time when she had to leave the house with her children in tears, in a penniless situation where they would have no choice but to be kicked out if they could not pay the loan interest.

Afterward, Myeong Hyeon-suk performed various jobs, including part-time work at restaurants, to make a living. While doing dishwashing work, she balanced her studies and even worked as a caregiver for one month in the leukemia ward of Seoul National University Hospital after obtaining a caregiver certification. Myeong Hyeon-suk stated that she lived busily to prepare for her children's education and living expenses without even having time to develop depression, and she has been paying off the debt, and is currently in a somewhat stable state of life.

Reflecting on the past and thoughts on her spouse

Looking back at the past from her current perspective, Myeong Hyeon-suk said she feels pity for her husband, who could not take care of the family while only chasing pleasure. She said it is difficult to understand why he lived such a life, immersing himself in such places for so long, but she added that she now lives with a heart of praying for him.

Meanwhile, in the video, other cast members' experiences and views regarding a spouse's economic behavior followed. One cast member said they tend to try to acknowledge and help to some extent even if a spouse causes trouble, but added the opinion that if situations that cause damage to the other person are repeated or if trust is broken, a separation is necessary.
