Lip J decides on 'ligament transplant surgery' due to worsening knee condition… Monika's advice: "You must realize the preciousness of your body"
Dancer Lip J has decided to undergo ligament transplant surgery as her knee injury has worsened to a complete ACL tear. Monika offered words of advice regarding the importance of prioritizing physical health over the continuous drive to dance.
Dancer Lip J has finally decided to undergo ligament transplant surgery due to the worsening of her knee injury. It was revealed that the situation has become more serious than previously known, with news that her passion for dancing actually delayed the timing of her treatment.
"Ligament transplant and cartilage treatment necessary"... Confirming worsened knee condition
In the released video, Lip J visited the hospital to check her knee condition. According to the video subtitles and the medical staff's explanation, Lip J has been suffering from a knee injury for nearly 10 months. She was initially diagnosed with a partial tear, but as she continued to use her knee, the condition progressed, and it was recently confirmed to be a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
The medical staff explained Lip J's condition based on the MRI results. They stated that while a ligament is like a rope made of several strands bundled together, in Lip J's case, the ligament has frayed, leaving remnants that have been absorbed by the body. Accordingly, the decision for ligament transplant surgery was made. Additionally, due to the ACL tear, damage such as cracks in the meniscus, which absorbs impact between the upper and lower bones, is also accompanied, so treatment via endoscopy will be carried out as well. The medical staff mentioned that a crack in the cartilage indicates a very serious situation.
"Because I have to keep dancing"... The reason for delaying treatment and Monika's advice
Lip J stated that the reason the timing of the surgery was delayed was because she had to continue working and dancing. Regarding this, Monika expressed regret, saying she felt that because of reasons such as "we have to work together" and "we have to keep dancing, so now is the only time," the most important thing was being missed.
Monika mentioned that she thinks the time when Lip J can dance again might be from 5 months later, and above all, she emphasized the preciousness of the body. Monika explained that while the pain might disappear in a day or two after surgery, if one removes the brace and runs immediately just because the pain is gone, a re-tear could occur. Therefore, she advised not to judge based on pain but to move only after fully healing.
The medical staff pointed out that movements such as hyperextension where the knee straightens to 0 degrees, twisting movements, and habits such as kicking while wearing heels could stimulate the cruciate ligament. Accordingly, it was emphasized that intensive management is required for at least 3 to 6 months after surgery.
Hospital visit and surgery news with colleagues
Colleague Monika and acquaintance Jeong-won accompanied Lip J on her way to the hospital. In the video, Lip J is shown traveling in a car with Jeong-won while talking on the phone with her mother. Monika and Jeong-won also shared greetings with Lip J's mother, showing their bond.
Lip J has been hospitalized for surgery, and the video reported the news that the surgery was completed safely. Lip J is expected to focus on the rehabilitation process in the future, and Monika encouraged Lip J to devote herself to treatment.
