CRAVITY Wonjin, the unexpected twist of an idol from a voice actor background... "Voice acting since 5th grade before debut"
CRAVITY member Wonjin appeared on voice actor Nam Do-hyeong's YouTube channel 'Nam Do-hyeong's Blue Club' to share his journey from voice acting to his idol debut.
Wonjin, a member of the group CRAVITY, appeared on voice actor Nam Do-hyeong's YouTube channel 'Nam Do-hyeong's Blue Club' and shared the process from his voice acting activities to the motivation for his idol debut.
From voice acting trainee to idol, "I tasted the stage and dreamed of it"
In the video, Wonjin first revealed his career as a voice actor. He said that while attending an acting academy in the past, he started voice acting after being recommended for an audition by an acquaintance. Wonjin mentioned the strictness of auditions, stating, "Even if it's through an introduction, if you aren't good, you fail. The voice acting world is the same." In particular, he revealed his experience of doing voice acting since he was in the 5th grade of elementary school, before his voice changed, showing that he and Nam Do-hyeong have a senior-junior relationship with a 6-year age gap. At that time, Wonjin took the role of O-gong in 'Tobot' and even delivered the line "Double W Transformation."

Regarding the motivation for becoming an idol, he cited his experience on stage. Wonjin said, "When I was attending a dance academy to learn dancing and went out for a performance, the older brothers and sisters I went with prepared cheering chants as a surprise," and "After tasting that stage, I fell in love with the profession of being an idol."
He also showed his affection for animation. Wonjin revealed that he spent his two-hour round trip to and from the dance academy watching animation. He showed his side as an 'animation fan' by mentioning that "the first figure I bought was the Sabo character from 'One Piece'" and noting that the figure is at his family home. He added that he has recently been enjoying 'Jujutsu Kaisen' and started watching 'Fullmetal Alchemist' after receiving a recommendation.

From 'Haikyu!!' to 'Death Note', acting skills recreating famous scenes
In the following 'Anime Contents' corner, Wonjin participated in a test where he had to guess the works by listening to the famous animation scene lines recreated by Nam Do-hyeong. Wonjin showed a high level of understanding, correctly guessing lines including Tadashi Yamaguchi's from 'Haikyu!!', Akaza (Hakuji)'s from 'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba', and Cat Noir's from 'Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie' in succession. In particular, for the last question, when Nam Do-hyeong recreated the line "Double W Transformation" from 'Tobot', which he had played in the past, he got the answer right and showed great chemistry.
In the subsequent 'Favorite Scene' recreation corner, Wonjin's experience during his voice acting days was discussed in detail. Wonjin recreated the lines of Kira from 'Death Note', which he had aimed for since his trainee days. He cited 'timing', 'sense of space', and 'low strength' as acting points, explaining, "Breathing acting that can provide low strength is important." Upon seeing Wonjin's acting, Nam Do-hyeong evaluated him, saying, "He is definitely an experienced person."
Nam Do-hyeong suggested a scene from his life's work 'Mobile Suit Gundam' and asked Wonjin to take on the role of 'Amuro Ray'. Wonjin recreated the lines of the Gundam protagonist Amuro Ray, and regarding this, Nam Do-hyeong commented, "Wonjin's tone and the character's form suit each other really well."
"To be an artist who remains in a corner of the fans' hearts"
When asked about his future goals for his activities, Wonjin replied, "Like the seniors who have been working hard for a long time as long-running idols, my goal is to grow into an artist who can surely take a place in a corner of the fans' hearts."
