What Is “Gamdongran Ssangnamba”? Ahn Hyo-seop Wins by Naming the Discontinued Treat

Cast members on tvN variety show Amazing Saturday were shown trying to identify ice creams from clues made up of their names’ initial consonants. Shin Seung-ho and Nana appeared as guests for the episode and joined the regular cast in the quiz competition.

The ice cream challenge presented a wide range of product names, with the players attempting to work out each answer from a short sequence of initials. For the first question, they looked at a three-consonant clue, rendered as G-D-B in Latin letters, and correctly identified the answer as “Candy Bar Melon Soda.”

The next clue was a much longer sequence, rendered as H-P-P-S-M-S-T-B. This time, the answer presented by the program was “Fluffy Fluffy Cotton Candy Bar.” The growing length of the clue required the participants to connect a larger series of consonants with the full ice cream name.

A chocolate-related question followed with a clue rendered as O-O-N O-Ch-K. The cast tried to reach the answer by suggesting phrases such as “Chocolate with Milk Added.” Their guesses appeared to follow the chocolate theme, but the actual answer was revealed to be the unexpected phrase “Chicken with Milk Added.”

The program then presented an English-sentence question, “I’m Naro Chicken.” Kim Dong-hyun supplied the correct answer, confirming the unusual combination used in the ice cream’s name. In a later question featuring a clue rendered as P-P-R-B, Nana correctly answered “Pepero Bar” and received the ice cream.

As the quiz continued, the questions became more difficult and began combining parts of several ice cream names. One problem drew on “Jaws Bar,” “Screw Bar” and “Subak Bar.” The cast worked with individual syllables from the three names as they attempted to assemble the intended answer.

They considered “jo” from Joseuba, the Korean rendering of Jaws Bar; “keu” from Seukuryuba, the Korean rendering of Screw Bar; and “ba” from Subakba. During this process, the participants proposed the combined name “Jo-keu-ba” as they continued trying to solve the question.

Another consonant sequence, rendered as G-J-B-S-G S-G-B, led to the answer “Peeled Apple Bar.” Before the answer was disclosed, the cast kept the conversation moving with guesses that included “peeled ginger,” demonstrating how the same limited set of initials could send them toward a very different phrase.

The final round became a head-to-head contest between Moon Se-yoon and Ahn Hyo-seop. The last clue was rendered as G-D-R Ss-N-B. While trying to interpret it, members of the cast remarked that the answer did not appear to be “Icicle,” and they continued searching for another ice cream name that fit the sequence.

Ahn Hyo-seop moved closer to the solution through a hint connected to eggs, a food mentioned in relation to dieting. The additional prompt, “There are two eggs?” helped him approach the full product name represented by the clue.

The final answer was revealed as “Gamdongran Ssangnamba.” The production team explained that the product had once been sold at convenience stores but had since been discontinued. Because it was no longer on sale, the team had prepared it as a gift. By correctly naming the discontinued product, Ahn Hyo-seop secured the final victory.
